Press release: EduAid School Hydration Programme – Windward Aid Partnership with Boley Springs

February 6, 2026

Project Overview

Windward Aid’s EduAid School Hydration Programme ensures that students and staff across Carriacou and Petite Martinique have steady access to safe, clean drinking water. The programme currently supports 1,136 students across 18 educational institutions, including all secondary schools, primary schools, preschools and day care centres. It builds on last year’s successful EduAid initiative, which provided drinking water to students during the height of the dry season. Clean drinking water is essential for children’s health, focus and overall learning. With ongoing water supply challenges **continuing after Hurricane Beryl**, alongside the growing impact of climate change on water security, this programme ensures that every child has dependable access to safe drinking water throughout the school year.

Partnership with Boley Springs

Boley Springs is Windward Aid’s implementing partner for this initiative, providing full water supply and distribution services to all participating schools.

Their responsibilities include:

  • Supplying potable water that meets Grenada’s national water quality standards
  • Sanitising and sealing all water containers before delivery
  • Completing weekly refills and distributing up to 350 five-gallon bottles

This partnership brings together Boley Springs’ technical expertise and Windward Aid’s community-focused mission. We commend Boley Springs for their professionalism, consistency and commitment to safeguarding water quality, ensuring a reliable, high-quality service for every school across Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Stainless Steel Bottles and Environmental Impact

As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability, the programme provides reusable stainless-steel bottles for every student, working alongside the five-gallon refill dispensers used in schools.

Environmental benefits include:

  • Removing the need for single use plastic bottles in schools
  • Reducing plastic waste across Carriacou
  • Supporting long term sustainability through durable, reusable containers
  • Encouraging children to develop responsible environmental habits
  • Providing families with a long-lasting resource that can be used beyond school

These bottles are an investment in both children’s wellbeing and the island’s environmental future, helping reduce reliance on disposable plastics while promoting sustainable everyday practices.

Community Impact

The EduAid  Programme reflects Windward Aid’s commitment to community resilience and child wellbeing. By ensuring reliable access to safe drinking water, the programme supports:

Better student health and hydration

  • Improved concentration and academic performance
  • Reduced pressure on families facing water access challenges
  • Environmental sustainability through reusable solutions
  • Continued community recovery and resilience following Hurricane Beryl

Acknowledgements

Windward Aid extends sincere appreciation to:

Mr Delon Moses, Schools Ministry for his steady support and coordination in bringing this programme to every school in Carriacou. His commitment to ensuring that all children have access to safe drinking water has been vital to the programme’s success.

Mrs Emma Williams for her tireless advocacy, dedication and deep care for the children of Carriacou. Her leadership and passion have played a central role in advancing this initiative and improving the lives of students and families.

Together, we can make a difference and rebuild a stronger, more resilient Caribbean community.

The Caribbean is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, which can cause widespread devastation. As we recently witnessed in the nations of Grenada and St Vincent experiencing catastrophic impacts during one event.

These examples underscore the broader vulnerability of the Caribbean, where economies are heavily susceptible to natural disasters

The recurring nature of these events highlights the urgent need for regional resilience planning, disaster preparedness, and international cooperation to mitigate the impacts. Windward Aid is invested assisting the region for the future in climate adaptation, infrastructure strengthening, and community education. Our essential commitment is to protect lives, support recovery efforts, and ensure sustainable development across the Caribbean.
